Give an old jacket new life with your own unique patchwork.

This is not a traditional crochet pattern, but a creative guide to making a jacket that is entirely your own. Since all secondhand jackets differ in fit and material, the design cannot be replicated 1:1 and that is exactly the point. The guide teaches you the techniques, measurements, and methods needed to adapt crocheted patchwork to an existing jacket.

What you’ll get in the guide:

• A complete creative framework for construction and customization
• Step-by-step instructions with photos and illustrations
• Video tutorials: walkthrough of granny squares and inspiration for color changes
• Recommended gauge: 10 x 10 cm = 18 sts x 18 sts (not essential for this project)

What you’ll need (before you buy):

1. The base: an existing jacket

You’ll need a jacket from your wardrobe or a thrifted one as your foundation.

Recommended: Jackets made from sturdy materials such as denim, canvas, suede bonded with teddy, or wool.

Note: The jacket must be able to fit under your sewing machine.

2. The yarn

You can use almost any yarn! Feel free to mix different textures (wool, mohair, cotton) for a great effect.

• Amount: Depends on jacket size — approx. 2–2.5 kg of yarn
• Color choice: Choose 5–10 complementary colors for the best look

3. Additional tools

• Crochet hook: 4.0 mm (or the size that gives you a firm structure)
• Sewing machine: use strong needles (denim or leather needles recommended)
• Accessories: sewing thread, measuring tape, scissors, seam ripper, and buttons (e.g. duffle buttons)
