The SR300 from the Ibanez SR Standard Series is built with a practical approach to contemporary bass design, incorporating a number of foundational construction elements seen across the line. It features a solid nyatoh body, a wood selection often chosen for its workability and density, paired with a 5-piece maple and walnut neck. This configuration is matched to a jatoba fingerboard and a 34-inch scale, offering a familiar playing feel for those used to traditional four-string formats.
This model is fitted with PowerSpan dual coil pickups in both neck and bridge positions, controlled by a comprehensive electronics section that includes volume, bass, mid, treble, a pickup balance control, and a 3-way Power Tap switch. These controls allow the user to configure the interaction between the pickups and preamp without modifying the physical signal path, offering flexibility in sonic shaping without pigeonholing tonal specificity.
Hardware includes an Accu-Cast B120 bridge, which accommodates wider string spacing and integrates with the standard 24-fret, medium-sized layout found on many modern basses. The nut measures 38mm, a common width for narrow string spacing preferred by some players.
Finished in Walnut Flat, the SR300 presents itself with understated visual styling.
