The act was met with anger and resistance, sometimes in the form of satirical fliers warning of the effects of the tax. Publishers of newspapers were heavily burdened by the tax, so much of the press became reliable allies of the burgeoning Sons of Liberty protest movement that sowed the seeds of the American Revolution.

This design is one of those satirical illustrations by a newspaper, and a great reminder of our heritage as renegades for liberty.
