Bakhtiari saddle bags were originally made to put on the back of horses or camels. They are known to have three different weaving techniques (carpet, kilim and embroidery) together. It gives one rug three different textures, which is a quite rare feature. In this example, the saddle bag has been flattened and converted into a rug. Hand made almost Six Decades Ago, this Bakhtiari rug boasts meticulously woven geometric details throughout, beautifully representing the tribal Bakhtiari style. These rugs give a character to any space either as a small runner or a wall hanging.
