The primary color is the golden yellow of fresh cut Bodark heartwood with inter grain bands and shading of light reddish spalting. This is another nice 1-1/2"-square end-grain block of lightly spalted Texas Bodark. The primary color is the golden-yellow of fresh-cut Bodark heartwood with inter-grain bands and shading of light reddish spalting. That golden-yellow color will, over the course of time and exposure to air and light, gradually change to a darker orange-brown and ultimately to a beautiful dark, golden brown.
It was cut well away from the pith of the log and no significant pith-related cracks are present. However, there are one (or two?) small and very tight crack on one edge (upper left edge, top photo) that is likely the very tail end of an old radial crack located outside the limits of this block. Located on the edge of the block, that crack should turn off completely as the block is roughed to round. I see no other cracks, checks or significant flaws.

Love these!

As many previous reviews state these pants are incredibly comfortable. They are very warm. They wash up well. We’ll see how they last but my initial impressions are very good on these pants. I will order more color because I have to wear a nice pants for work, but I’m outside alive and they fit the Bill by not looking like trek pants or hiking pants. For reference I’m 5’5” and weigh about 150lbs. I ordered 32x30 and love the fit.
I’ve ordered other colors because I like them so much.
