Unity-Gain UHF Mobile Antenna with Standard Threaded NMO Base

Compact, high-durability vehicular radiating rod engineered for clean low-loss communication across commercial transit grids.

The TE Connectivity QW450 is an authentic original equipment manufacturer quarter-wave omnidirectional mobile whip antenna engineered to optimize signal range across commercial and public utility fleets. Operating within the 450–470 MHz UHF frequency spectrum, this high-performance component provides stable unity gain (0 dB / 2.15 dBi) to sustain clean communication links. The TE Connectivity QW450 450-470 MHz Chrome Quarter-Wave Whip Antenna features an elegant, weather-resistant chrome-plated finish over a premium Type 302 stainless steel radiator body, allowing it to withstand high wind speeds and continuous exposure to extreme elements.

Measuring approximately 6 inches in length, the low-profile architectural design minimizes the structural risk of striking low-clearance obstacles like tree branches, warehouse entry frames, or parking garage ceilings. The structural base is engineered with a standard threaded NMO style mounting interface, complete with gold-plated contact pins and an all-brass connector seat to combat moisture oxidation and ensure efficient power transfer up to a maximum threshold of 200 Watts. This passive radiating accessory requires a dedicated metallic ground plane (such as a vehicle's steel roof or trunk lid surface) to form a proper counterpoise and establish low voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) metrics.

Field installers must note that this standalone antenna rod does not feature an integrated coaxial transmission line or physical mounting bracket. To complete a vehicle installation, this hardware component must be threaded onto a matching external thru-hole, magnetic, or trunk-lid NMO mount assembly. The primary mobile two-way transceiver chassis, dashboard installation brackets, low-loss transmission coaxial cables, and end connectors matching your radio's RF port are sold separately.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Low-Profile 6-Inch Whip: Compact mechanical clearance profile reduces the risk of physical impact damage when driving beneath low overhead structures.
  • Premium Gold-Plated Contacts: Incorporates high-conductivity gold connection pins inside an all-brass base structure to prevent rust-related signal drops.
  • High-Power Capacity Handling: Electrically rated to comfortably handle continuous RF transmission power outputs up to 200 Watts max.
  • Standardized NMO Base Mating: Built to thread smoothly onto any standard mobile or magnetic NMO mount infrastructure without custom adapters.
  • Type 302 Stainless Steel Strength: Forged with a flexible stainless steel core that bends under physical obstruction impact and springs back instantly without warping.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is an external vehicle mounting kit included with this antenna whip?

No, this item consists exclusively of the standalone 6-inch threaded antenna rod and base ring. A companion magnetic or structural NMO mount assembly must be purchased separately.

Can this UHF antenna operate correctly if mounted to a fiberglass surface?

This quarter-wave configuration requires a metallic ground plane counterpoise to achieve proper tuning. Mounting it to non-conductive fiberglass or plastic surfaces without a metal base layer will elevate VSWR metrics.

Does this specific model require manual field cutting or tuning?

No, the QW450 is factory-cut and pre-tuned explicitly to cover the 450 to 470 MHz UHF frequency sector out of the box, completely bypassing the need for manual trimming.

What type of finish is applied to the main steel radiating rod?

The antenna is manufactured using a flexible, industrial-grade stainless steel core that is treated with a premium chrome silver finish to maintain optimal weather resistance.

What happens if this antenna strikes an overhead garage ceiling?

The flexible Type 302 stainless steel composition allows the thin 6-inch whip rod to deflect completely upon impact and spring back into its upright vertical position without snapping.

Can this antenna handle the high transmission output of a 100-watt mobile deck?

Yes, this heavy-duty mobile antenna component is electrically engineered to handle continuous transmission loads reaching up to a maximum threshold of 200 Watts.

Pretty Darn Good
Format: Kindle
So I’ve been on a omega kick and this definitely hit the spot. Madison was frustrating at times with how she acted towards Lucas, Gray, and Rian. It was like she said towards the end, she didn’t believe she deserved nice things. It would have been nice to hear from her best friends again. They kind of were there in the beginning and the gone except for mention of text messages received from them. I feel like her friends would have been great help in encouraging Madison to go with the pack and never give Brent another chance because he was toxic. I loved Rian. His personality was awesome. His humor. His ability to make Madison comfortable whenever she was feeling overwhelmed. And the fact he fell for her and she fell for him first. They are cute together. I do feel like Lucas was the odd man out though. Like Lucas didn’t develop as much of a relationship with Madison. I would have really liked to see more development in the relationship between them. It was also the same with him and Rian. There is really no relationship displayed. Most of the relationship being displayed is between Rian and Gray. Nevertheless, I loved reading about the dynamic that came to fruition during the entirety of this story. Madison finally got her happiness. And Brent finally got punched in the face. Everyone got exactly what they deserve.

Pack's Promise was okay but not great
Format: Kindle
Pack's Promise was okay but not great. I won't recommend it to anyone that I know. PRO: * Very likable characters * Lots of steamy scenes that are written very well * The spelling and grammar are good * The punctuation is good with the exception of using hyphens instead of commas. Lots of hyphens. Lots and lots of hyphens. CON: * Almost no interactions with any characters outside of Madison and the pack * Nearly no plot. They meet, get together for a heat, agree to make it permanent, done * Quite a few typos such as extraneous words, missing words and words out of order THINGS TO KNOW: * More steamy scenes than storytelling * A lot of MM & MMM, some MFMM during heat

Fluffy and Nice Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
… this would have made 5 stars but for 2 reasons. A.) there were quite a few typos; misspelled words, missing quotations, “the his” mistakes, and various signs that maybe a proofread would do good. B.) the writing was quite textbook. Late blooming omega is struggling with her new self, finds a absurdly wealthy pack of alphas, every thing is almost insta-love but she resists, then decides to love herself and let everyone be happy. Rian was my favourite (obviously the author’s favourite too because he got the most page time) but I wish we could see more of his CEO side? He went to work maybe ONCE the entire time. Gray was supposed to be the “growly one” but he turned out to be puppy dog. Lucas was a genius brainiac doctor - but also super alpha with an aggressive hindbrain with a breeding k*nk?? And then there was no actual “breeding”?? Spice 3/5 - normally omegaverse books are super high on messy smut but this was tamer. Romance 3/5 - insta-love that was then resisted because of personal hangup’s Plot 2/5 - weird paced head hopping, showing the same scene from different POV’s that made me feel like it was 2 steps backward, 1 step forward. Humour 4/5 - there were a dozen lines that genuinely made me chuckle out loud Would have been five stars but the lack of proofreading and the predictable plot made me unable to get up to ADORED IT level - four stars is still and official ENJOYED IT, y’all. This isn’t a bad rating. The “Club Heat” has intriguing possibilities so I’m going to give the second one a shot.
