Kit Paulson - Lecture/Demo

Thursday May 14th from 5pm to 7pm

Join us at the studio with visiting artist Kit Paulson for an exciting look into her work and process! Specializing in borosilicate flameworking with a focus on creating complex structural forms from small motifs, Kit Paulson creates works that celebrate the delicate nature of glass and the extraordinary detail possible when fragility is explored. Some of her pieces reimagine historical objects, rendering them in ghostly and reflective material. Others map hidden natural processes and forms, revealing them through a material that inherently captures light. Still others blend the two, giving shape to contraptions that never existed but appear as if they could have.

Kit Paulson received her MFA from Southern Illinois University and her BFA from Alfred University. She has taught across the United States and internationally at schools including Penland School of Craft; Pilchuck Glass School; Corning Museum of Glass; Bildwerk Frauenau, Germany; National College of Art and Design, Dublin, Ireland; and Canberra Glassworks in Canberra, Australia. Kit has completed residencies including the S12 Gallery in Bergen, Norway, the Tacoma Museum of Glass, and a three-year residency at Penland School of Craft. Her work has been published in New Glass Review editions 36, 37, 38 and 41, and is in the permanent collection of the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Museum. She currently maintains an independent studio practice in Penland, North Carolina, USA.

Eucerin for the Win...Again!
I love this tinted sunscreen. It's so lightweight and blends in really well. Since it blends in, it is good for all shades of skin. It doesn't have a strong smell like a lot of other sunscreens have, so that is a huge bonus. So far I'm really loving it. I am definitely a Eucerin girly. I love all things Eucerin at this point.

A hydrating sunscreen but won’t provide the coverage
I’ve been using CeraVe sunscreen, so that’s my baseline. It’s thicker, slightly pigmented, and very hydrating.. Switching to Eucerin felt like moving from a cozy blanket to a light sheet. It’s definitely thinner and less pigmented, so at first it didn’t give me that same immediate glow or coverage I was used to. That said, on its own, it’s still a good sunscreen. It spreads easily, feels comfortable, and does the job without heaviness. After using it for a while, I’ve kind of settled into a rhythm: • If I want a bit of coverage and that hydrated, supple finish → I reach for CeraVe • If I just need straightforward sun protection → Eucerin works perfectly fine One small downside is the packaging. The pump is convenient, but toward the end, I can already tell there’ll be product left that’s hard to get out since you can’t really squeeze or open it easily. Overall, I’d say Eucerin is a solid, lightweight sunscreen. Just don’t expect that tinted, slightly “makeup-like” effect if you’re coming from something like CeraVe. It’s more of a quiet, reliable everyday option than a multitasking one.

Ok for sunscreen
Works fine as sunscreen. Did make me look a little red but might be a reaction as I have very sensitive skin. Didn't notice any color change so basically it's just sunscreen.

Great sunscreen that feels light on skin
Great sunscreen that matches my skin tone and is very light. Its not makeup and also doesn't leave any white sunscreen residue. I can have sensitive skin when it comes to sunscreen and this is very gentle on my skin. Highly recommend!
