Storytelling SuccessYour narrative is where the magic of writing happens, and where the writer becomes the storyteller; the best writers know that there's much more to telling a story than simply transcribing a series of events as they play out in the author's imagination. Sometimes the compelling, emotional story that you imagined loses some of its glow in translation, and many authors struggle with pinning down exactly what's missing. With the Storytelling Success

Your narrative is where the magic of writing happens, and where the writer becomes the storyteller; the best writers know that there's much more to telling a story than simply transcribing a series of events as they play out in the author's imagination. Sometimes the compelling, emotional story that you imagined loses some of its glow in translation, and many authors struggle with pinning down exactly what's missing. With the Storytelling Success bundle, you can save 90% on invaluable storytelling resources from the Writer's Digest Shop vaults, including eight OnDemand webinars led by published authors and two digital editions of Writer's Digest. For additional inspiration, we've included two original Writer's Digest digital guides, The Ultimate Guide of Writer’s Digest Writing Prompts: 450+ Ideas to Feed Your Creativity and A Year of Writing Advice.

Finding the Story in Moments of Helplessness (OnDemand Webinar): Facing sudden, shocking, or unexpected events forces characters to resort to levels of understanding and behavior often long buried, suppressed, denied, or simply unconscious. In this OnDemand webinar, award-winning author David Corbett guides participants through the process of exploring those critical moments of helplessness, examining the habits and compromises that result, and discovering the underlying stories that result. ($79.99 value)

Top Ten Mistakes Authors Make When Writing Stories (OnDemand Webinar): Over the last 15 years, Richard Thomas has been a writer, editor, teacher, and publisher. So that means he's read a lot of short stories, novellas, and novels. There are several common mistakes that authors make—whether they've been writing for one year or 20, whether they're writing short stories or novels. In this OnDemand webinar, he talks about the top ten mistakes authors make, and how you can avoid those pitfalls. ($79.99 value)

Body, Mind, and Soul: Depth in Your Storytelling (OnDemand Webinar): When you write a story, it can work on several levels. Some stories are just for entertainment, there are no expectations of depth. Some have an emotional element that can go deeper, allowing you to connect and feel something, to be moved or horrified or filled with wonder. And then there are the stories that blow your mind, staying with you, an intellectual component that makes you think. In this OnDemand webinar, Richard Thomas discusses how you can do that, so your work can appeal to all three kinds of audiences. ($79.99 value)

Propelling Narratives Forward: The Dynamics of Engaging Storytelling (OnDemand Webinar): Dive into the art of propulsive storytelling, where narratives are crafted with a compelling momentum that keeps readers irresistibly hooked from start to finish. In this OnDemand webinar, Jennifer Givhan explores the balance between rich details and driving action, ensuring immersive world building while urging readers to turn the page.($79.99 value)

Anatomy of a Compelling (and Effective) Story (OnDemand Webinar): What makes a compelling and effective story? In this OnDemand webinar, Estelle Erasmus uses examples from great stories, essays, and books and break them down to show what works and why and what makes a road into storytelling that resonates with the reader, and offers writing advice from herself and authors she's had on her Freelance Writing Direct podcast. Regardless of genre, this will help any writer with a story to tell. ($79.99 value)

Visual Storytelling: How to Write Compelling and Visual Fiction (OnDemand Webinar): Want to write a story with scenes that keep the reader turning the pages? In this OnDemand webinar, Chris Mooney—hailed as "one of the best thriller writers working today" by Lee Child and "a wonderful writer" by Michael Connelly—discusses the techniques used by screenwriters, that can be used in fiction to create compelling scenes and characters. ($79.99 value)

Humor Your Readers Can Visualize: How to Make Writing Funnier (OnDemand Webinar): The most potent humor is creative, unexpected, and visual. Although writers are restricted to using words to be funny, a cartoonist and psychologist explain how concepts from their respective disciplines can help writers create more effective, engaging humor. Some of the principles discussed in this OnDemand webinar include relatability, exaggeration, simplification, and aggressive editing. ($79.99 value)

Writer's Digest September/October 2021 (Digital Edition): Standout Storytelling is the lifeblood of most creative writing, from short stories and poetry to novels and memoirs, and it’s the theme of our September/October 2021 issue. This issue features a curated selection of features and articles to inform and inspire writers of all types on their quest to write better and share their stories. ($7.99 value)

Writer's Digest July/August 2023 (Digital Edition): Structure is an oft-discussed topic when it comes to writing books, with different writing instructors amplifying the version they see as most effective. From the three-act structure to the hero’s journey and more, structure can help you write your story and ensure readers get the reading experience they deserve. But there are other ways, less traditional ways, to consider structure too, including how something visually looks on the page, how authors structure their writing lives, and books whose settings take place in a single structure. This issue explores all these and more. ($7.99 value)

The Ultimate Guide of Writer’s Digest Writing Prompts: 450+ Ideas to Feed Your Creativity (Digital Guide): In The Ultimate Guide of Writer’s Digest Writing Prompts, you’ll find hundreds of writing prompts to help you at any stage of the writing process. Whether you just want to write a quick paragraph on a random topic for a daily creativity outlet or are looking for ideas about creating a new character for your novel, the prompts in this PDF will offer you a match to help start the fire in your pen. ($19.99 value)

A Year of Writing Advice (Digital Guide): While there’s no shortage of writing advice, it’s often scattered around—a piece of advice here, words of wisdom there. And in the moments when you most need writing advice, what you find might not resonate with you or speak to the issue you’re dealing with. In A Year of Writing Advice, the editors of Writer’s Digest have gathered thoughts, musings, and yes, advice from 365 authors in dozens of genres to help you on your writing journey. ($19.99 value)

Cute picturization
Format: Board book
Like the picturization really really cute sandpiper babies! You might have to come up with your names for the piper babies as the names given peep and piper don't stand out when narrating the story to kids. But it's a cute book to have.

Must have pre-schooler book on kindness/empathy
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
This is great because it gives lots of tangible acts of kindness that a toddler/preschooler can understand. It has a feel of preventing bullying by encouraging kindness towards your peers at a young age. It touches upon gratitude and empathy. There is a wonderful range of diversity in skin tones and also includes a child with waking aid & one with a hearing aid. Illustrations are bright and basic. Arms & hands of characters are sort of stiff, so while a previous review implies there is something wrong you would really have to be looking closely and making assumptions to find hands between the waist and knees doing anything wrong.

Inclusion- without making that the focal point!
Format: Hardcover
This book shows representation for physical disabilities and different skin tones without that being the headliner of the book. It also emphasizes being kind to anyone/ everyone - and not because they are different. Showing children with hearing aids drawing pictures to cheer someone up (with no mention of the disability) or showing a child with assisted walking needs planting seeds at a community garden- These children are not the victims of this book who need kindness, but are thoughtfully included to be spreading kindness to others.

This book is worth your time!
Format: Hardcover
Purchased this book because I’m in a Kindergarten classroom and teaching Kindness is so important to me. This book is beautifully illustrated with great art work that invokes questions. So much is going on in each page and children pay attention to it all! This book is worth getting and you will not regret it! I’m so glad I purchased it. I was gonna donate it to the class but I decided to keep it for when my niece and nephew come over to my house to sleepover. Great book!
