Selby Select RooibosTea is the first tea we created to celebrate the many Local Treasures in Sarasota, Florida.

This tea is part of the Celebrating Sarasota Collection of Teas.

Local Tea Company managed the Selby House Cafe for nine years and the Carriagehouse Tea Room near the Payne Manion. We miss The Gardens, and can still find Selby Select Rooibos at the Selby House Cafe.

ROOIBOS

Naturally caffeine-free. Rooibos is a direct translation from Afrikaan, meaning “red bush,” and is a natural herb that grows around 1500 to 2000 feet above sea level in the Cederberg Mountains of the Western Cape, South Africa.

Rooibos seeds are planted in February and March and tended for 18 months. The entire bush is harvested, cut, and milled to a uniform length before bruising between rollers, triggering the oxidation process. This turns the tea from green to its characteristic reddish-brown color and develops a naturally sweet aroma.

Rooibos has a soothing effect on headaches, disturbed sleeping patterns, and digestive or colic problems. Many daily recommended nutrients are in Rooibos tea, such as Iron, Copper, Zinc, Magnesium, Fluoride, Manganese, and Sodium. In other words, Rooibos is good for healthy skin, teeth, bones, blood, and metabolic functions.

BREWING INSTRUCTIONS for Selby Select Rooibos Tea

Prepare like tea; this gem contains no tea leaves. All rooibos blends are caffeine-free. Use boiling water and steep for up to 10 minutes, depending on personal preferences. Rooibos is available in 2oz or 6oz packets and biodegradable sachets.

Store in a dry place.
