This is a real charmer - curvaceous (easy tiger), bulbous and comfortable, with glorious patina. The photos really don't do it justice..

Check out the onion bulb turning on the legs and the shaping on the arm supports and double-H stretcher. Big and rock-solid, the maker certainly wasn't mean with the proportions.

The seat is a large slab of elm, possibly the legs too, with a beech lath back etc.

The charm offensive continues with some wonderfully naïve (but tidy) small extensions to two of the feet and one, possibly two legs, are possibly historic replacements judging by the turning at the bottom, but near-identical so difficult to tell exactly.

What looks like 'Griffin' written in chalk underneath.

It's one of those pieces that gives you pleasure every time you look at it. I'm quite happy to keep this one, thank you very much.
