Background
NY-BR-1 gene encodes a 150-160 kDa protein containing nuclear localization and bZIP motif, which is a transcription factor and overexpressed in breast cancer. It is restricted to normal breast epithelium and to tumors thereof, confirming its true nature as a differentiation antigen of the mammary gland. NY-BR-1 was significantly associated with the differentiation grade, lymph node status, estrogen receptor expression, and Her2-neu gene amplification.
