Pennant Bannerfish – Heniochus acuminatus

Overview:
The Pennant Bannerfish is a striking marine species, easily recognized by its elongated dorsal “pennant” fin and bold black, white, and yellow coloration. Peaceful and social, it brings elegance and movement to reef and community aquariums.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including Indonesia, the Philippines, and northern Australia.

Feeding:
Omnivorous — thrives on marine flakes, pellets, frozen mysis and brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and occasional algae.

Tank Mates:
Ideal for peaceful reef and community tanks, especially in small groups of 2–3, compatible with tangs, clownfish, gobies, and other non-aggressive species.

Aggression:
Very peaceful, non-territorial.

Experience Level:
Suitable for intermediate aquarists, as they require stable water quality and space for natural schooling behavior.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C)
  • pH: 8.1–8.4
  • Salinity: 1.020–1.025
  • Minimum Tank Size: 100+ gallons

Elegant, social, and visually striking, the Pennant Bannerfish is a captivating addition to larger marine aquariums, bringing both color and dynamic movement.

Enjoyed reading some of the best poems ever written. Took me places I’ve never been.
Format: Paperback
Some of the poems were difficult to comprehend and may require a re-reading to understand their full meaning. But that is the brilliance of G. Brooks, putting you in places of the mind that one has never been. Won’t recommend for newbies!
